WAR, the nonsense without winners
Gimme Shelter

“Gimme Shelter” is a song of a famous group of music called “Rolling Stones”. It was written in 1969 and it was composed by two members of the group: Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. Their inspiration was the violence in the Vietnam War.
The main topic is war, violation, and murder, as it's said “just a shot away”, transmitting all the horrors of the Vietnam War.
The lyrics of the song talk about the search for a Shelter. A lot of people have to survive “storms” in their country and a world divided by arguments, war, racial and ideological strife, painting a picture of devastation and social apocalypse
One day, the guitarist Keith Richard was in a friend's apartment when the sky went completely black and a huge storm came. He saw a lot of people running to find a shelter. This situation went further and Keith captured it into the song. Mick Jagger sings of needing shelter from this "Storm".
I have chosen this song, since it expresses so well all the horrible things that happened in the Vietnam War. I like the fact that uses "the storm" as a metaphor for the conflict and its consequences.
Moreover, I am not very keen on Rock music but I like this song, above all its the melody and the lyrics.
